Hyaluronic Acid/Drug Interactions:- Anticoagulants and antiplateletsAnticoagulants and antiplatelets: With any injection, bleeding at the injection site may occur. Inasmuch as anticoagulants or antiplatelet aggregation drugs increase the risk of bleeding, these agents should be discontinued at least one week before a hyaluronic acid injection.
- DisinfectantsDisinfectants: Disinfectants containing quaternary ammonium salts should not be used with hyaluronic acid as hyaluron may precipitate in their presence, based on secondary sources.
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDS)Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDS): Aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents increase the risk of bleeding; therefore, these agents should be discontinued at least one week before a hyaluronic acid injection.
